Whenever someone suggests strategic planning, I think of three things: It will cost a lot of money, take a lot of time, and yield nothing. Strategic planning is a complete waste of time. Assumptions form the basis of all strategic plans and they are mostly wrong – just like the so-called experts that predict election results.

How on earth can you make assumptions about the market 3-5 years out, when you can’t even forecast the weather reliably a week from now?
